Wholeness, what if?
Ever felt like trying to outrun your own skin?
Same.
I’m not much of a runner (at all), but definitely, metaphorically, many times, I’ve wanted to outrun the aching chaos under my very own skin.
In an instant, the pain of life can break over us in a wash of overpowering pressure, and at other times, it can be the slow ache of living that keeps us driven at an unsustainable pace to avoid collapse altogether.
Couple this with doubts, shame, and faulty beliefs and suddenly fear drives an exhausting emotional torrent. One we often try to contain or run from, we all want to escape sometimes….. escape ourselves.
It can be all too easy to conclude we are ‘broken’.
That there’s something wrong.
It’s brutal to feel useless in a world that chants for our production, measuring us mercilessly against unachievable expectations.
I know you are nodding, at least on the inside. We all have seasons like this, and we all sit alongside others in their similar seasons.
WHOLENESS…
What if, what’s being broken is actually to release the life found deep inside us. Just like a kernel of wheat that has a tiny living embryo alive and ready to emerge when the outer shell splits and breaks open, maybe the life within us is also alive and ready to emerge when we are broken open in these moments.
What if, rather than running, we lent in. Rather than clenching up tight, we exhaled and let go. Rather than turning up the speed dial, we gently pressed on the brakes. And what if, rather than trying to understand it all, we let reason give way to an experience of what has always been true and now found through the shedding of what has kept us hidden.
What if, wholeness is found even deeper in the heart of who we are and all that we need to do is stop….
trying so hard,
to feel better,
to fix it,
be better
prevent more pain.
What if, wholeness really is emerging through it all, after all?
